TAEX has opened its first permanent gallery in Monaco. The contemporary art gallery and curated digital art platform opened the space to the public on 9 October 2026 with Testing Ground, a solo exhibition by Irish conceptual artist Kevin Abosch.
The gallery is located in Le Renzo, the Renzo Piano-designed building in Monaco's Mareterra waterfront district. Testing Ground runs until 30 November 2026 and includes previously unseen works created for the new space, as well as earlier works.

Testing Ground is an exhibition of Abosch's synthetic photography. These synthetic photographs sit at the meeting point of AI and traditional photography.
"They are photographic works that I make working with diffusion algorithms, a type of AI that allows one to build a machine’s mental model of what things look like. The model is created by feeding the machine anywhere from thousands to billions of photographic images. I used both proprietary and public models to help generate the images." – Kevin Abosch
Through this process Abosch positions AI and other emerging technologies at the forefront of a new photographic renaissance which expand's the practice's creative capabilties. His work in this series resembles photographs of landscapes but depict places that do not really exist, examining the boundary between real and fictional worlds.
Testing Ground explores how humans have always shaped the natural world, from hybridising plants and breeding animals to designing landscapes and cities, in pursuit of both practical needs and aesthetic ideals. These synthetic photographs come out of the artist’s “laboratory” as a testing ground. They explore what we want from this ongoing process of intervention, and what we are willing to accept in return.
The exhibition also includes works from Ethical Work. With Ethical Work. This series centres on the materials and structures that sustain human life, substances that enclose, nourish and protect life, yet also deplete, contaminate and outlast it. They look familiar yet resist clear identification, underscoring the instability of the stuff of culture. By focusing on these unclear boundaries, the series hows how materials become ethically charged through human choices, cultural bias, and environmental impact.

Founded in London in 2020, TAEX has developed a programme spanning contemporary art and digital practices, with appearances at fairs including Art Basel and Paris Photo. The gallery has frequently presented in Monaco, including during the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix and with a project featuring Marina Abramović at that year’s artmonte-carlo fair. Its permanent space there builds on this ongoing presence.
"Having supported arts and culture in Monaco for many years, I am especially proud to open TAEX Gallery here," founder Inna Bazhenova said in a statement reported by Monaco Life.
