Netherlands-based artist duo Xsenofemme is going to drop its first NFT collection in collaboration with performer Nika de la Loncha on the 3rd of October 2023. Each of the artists is selling 3D scans of their own bodies, as unique 1/1 NFTs. Inspired by Piero Manzoni’s “Artist’s shit”, the NFT collection aims to take a radical stance toward the dynamic of the contemporary art market. Manzoni said, referring to his work, “If the collectors want something intimate, really personal to the artist, there’s the artist's own shit, that is really his”. With this project, the duo Xsenofemme and Nika de la Loncha try to envision the desperate quest of performance artists to squeeze creativity out of their own bodies, by showcasing what would happen if they would actually start to sell their bodies as real artworks.
